Worship
We begin our services with a time of worship through music and singing. You’ll notice that most of the music is contemporary in style and arrangement. Some choruses are simply worded, others are more complex and may take a while to learn. Through it all, our focus is to offer our worship and praises to God.
Orderly Freedom
During worship you may notice that some people stand, kneel, sit, or raise their hands. While we believe all things ought to be done decently and in order (1 Corinthians 14), we also desire to provide an environment of freedom where individuals can adopt whatever posture best reflects their inner spirit. However, any personal expression that distracts another would be inappropriate. So, in all things, we try to remain sensitive to others.
For Children
We provide children’s church for ages 2 through 9 years. After worship with the adults, children are dismissed to children’s church where the lesson is geared for their age. Older children are welcome to attend the adult service. A nursery (with a window into the sanctuary) is available for parents with infants.
Announcements
Following singing, we take a short time to share announcements and news with the fellowship. This is an informal family time as we get caught up on what’s happening in our church. Sit back, relax, and see what God is doing at Calvary. If you hear of something that interests you, there will be numbers to call or people to contact. When in doubt, telephone the church for more information.
The Morning Message
Part of the mission of Calvary Chapel is the simple and straightforward study of the Bible. We typically cover an entire book over several weeks; progressing chapter by chapter, verse by verse. We occasionally take the time to focus on topics that relate to the Christian life but, these are reserved for special seasons of the year or times of need in the life of our church. Chances are, you will hear a message on Sunday morning that is a part of a larger series of messages on a particular book of the Bible. In this way, the congregation is spared from the pet subjects of the pastor and instead, they get to hear the full counsel of God, from Genesis to Revelation.
Prayer and Fellowship
It is important to the ministry team at Calvary Chapel that our Sunday services not be the typical ‘church thing’. The church is not a building; it is people who share a common faith, mission and destiny. Thus, we encourage the congregation to “hangout” after the service and enjoy each other’s fellowship.
Being the family of God means helping each other in practical ways. One of the most practical ways we can help each other is by praying with, or for each other. If you have a need, there are many people in our body who would enjoy praying with you and provide whatever guidance they can. After the service, feel free to ask the pastor or any member of the body to pray with you.
Offering
We see our offering as an act of joyous worship. God calls upon us to give cheerfully, so we never put pressure on people to give. Whether our gift is from our lips, our lives, or our wallets, it must be a free-will offering. As a visitor, please do not feel under any obligation to make a contribution. If you do give, we treat it as a gift to God and will seek to be good stewards of it. Presently, we do not pass an offering plate or bag during any service. There is an offering box in the sanctuary for your convenience.
